Defeating the Enemy Within
Defeating the Enemy Within

“There are no contests in the Art of Peace. A true warrior is invincible because he or she contests with nothing. Defeat means to defeat the mind of contention that we harbor within.” ~ Morihei Ueshiba

The enemy within is far stronger than the one without. We are the ones that sometimes get in our own way. Our self-doubts, fears, self-hatred or beliefs that we are not worthy, hold us back. This may be exhibited by self-destructive behaviors such as persistently being late to work, instigating conflict to destroy our relationships, or procrastinating on implementing the plans for our dreams.

Recognizing and acknowledging these behaviors are the first steps in defeating the enemy within. Practice the discipling of loving ourselves, setting goals and seeing them through one at a time. These are more steps we can take to quite the internal war inside of us. I like to set 21-day challenges for myself in eradicating a bad habits by replacing them with good ones. At the end of the 21 days, I feel more invincible.

Find the self-discipline habit that will help you defeat your enemy within. This is a great day to start. Live Your Diamond Life on Invincible Monday and find your Purpose!

“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read.” ~ James Baldwin

You may feel that no one understands what you are going through. Acknowledge how you feel.  Yet, know you are alone. Someone has experienced your situation. Reach out to others. Share your experience. You may discover the treasure of a mentor that has gone through it, survived it and has grown stronger despite it.

Remember You Are Not Alone on Treasures Thursday!

Overwhelmed!

Are you feeling overwhelmed as though there is not enough time to get it all done? Stop to see what you may be doing or not doing to leave you feeling this way. The times that I have felt overwhelmed were ones when I may be trying to do everything myself.

The “If you want it done right, do it yourself” mantra may leave you trying to do too many things at once. Or it may put you in an area that you are not your strongest . Throughout my years as a manger or project leader,  I learned that one must learn to delegate some of the workload to others, especially in the areas where you are the weakest. You cannot be the expert in everything.

Find someone who is strong in that field that you have little knowledge or passion for it. Share detailed information of what is required to accomplish the task with him or her. Give timelines of when you need it. Agree upon when you will share key milestones until the project is completed. This will free you up to do what you do best. John Maxwell, the international author and speaker, often states that we do our best when we stay in the area where we are the strongest.

Let go of feeling overwhelmed. Release some of the control to others. The team approach can relieve some of the burden you carry. This is a great way to become more invincible. Learn to delegate.

Now go out an have an Invincible Monday! Live a Diamond Life. Live a Life of Purpose!

Ask.001

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ~ Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

How many times have someone missed an opportunity to gain knowledge, assistance, or something or someone that may benefit his/her life because he/she didn’t ask? It is generally due to the fear of rejection.

There were instances when I struggled with a problem or needed assistance in a situation, but I hesitated to ask for help. Then, I pushed myself to get pass the fear of the dreaded “no.” I ask of myself: What is the worse that can happen because I got the answer “no.?” Often the answer is not that serious. This gives me the courage to ask. Guess what? The answer is usually “yes.” I found out that I lose more when I don’t ask, than when I do.

Paulo Coelho says it best…when we ask, this universe of ours conspires to make it happen.  Go ahead. Ask! Enjoy this Wisdom Wednesday by Living a Diamond Life. Live a Life of Purpose!

Peace I give you.001
John 14:27

As I mediated on the beach this past Sunday, I took a picture of these beautiful clouds. It reminded me of the peace one feels in the midst of difficult times. If you are going through some challenging times today, take a moment to mediate and find the peace within. This helps me to know that “This too shall pass.” Namaste! Blessings! Hugs!
