Learning to drive at an early age in New York City was a challenge. Unfortunately, I picked up the bad habit of being an aggressive driver. I can be one of the calmest folks you meet until I get behind a steering wheel! It took me a while to learn to relax and enjoy the ride instead.

Many of us are hitting the road to visit family and friends for the Thanksgiving Holiday in the USA. If you driving to your destination, I encourage you to relax and enjoy the ride.

Here are a few tricks I’ve learned:

Audiobooks: It is amazing how time flies by when I listen to audiobooks. I love mystery stories, especially ones that keep me at the edge of my seat. Sometimes I get to where I’m going and I sit in the car just to hear the ending!


Educational CDs or Podcasts
: Driving gives you a great opportunity to improve your knowledge by listening to CDs share valuable information with you. Listening the experts in my field teaches me ways to make improvements in my business. They also generate new ideas that I may implement in my workshops.

Music:
There is no way that I feel aggressive when I’m listening to Neil Diamond, Luther Vandross or my faith based songs. But if I hear certain Rock, Reggae or Rap music…Uh oh! I leave these type of music for when I’m out of the car!

Silence: There are times when I roll up the windows and simply enjoy the silence. I use this time to meditate and reflect on something that I want to better understand or master.

Leave Early: Heading out on the road with more than enough time to get to my destination, makes it less stressful for me. I don’t like being late; therefore, it makes sense for me to get a good head start to avoid being late.

Let the other guy or gal go by: bad-drivers-2If someone is riding my bumper, I no longer feel the need to let the New Yorker Marlene out! I just move over to the other lane and give them room…I also say a silent prayer for them and the rest of us on the road.

Now, I’m not saying that I have mastered being a great driver, but the more I practice these methods, the more I’m enjoying the drive. I hope these tips help you on your next drive. Drive safely!

Looking out the window this morning, I saw large black clouds hovering over the landscape. They seemed pregnant with water waiting to burst raindrops upon us. At first, I was discouraged because I had my heart set on an early morning bike ride. This is part of my exercise regime to get my Diamond week off to a great start on Invincible Monday.

Then, I thought: “I’m not going to let some clouds ruin the pleasure of riding my bike and keeping healthy!” I grabbed my helmet and wheeled the bike outside. As I peddled the miles away, I felt the breeze mixed in with a few sprinkles. It was exhilarating. After a forty-minute ride, I headed home with a sense of accomplishment. The clouds didn’t pour out their content on me during the ride.

If I had allowed the first sight of the clouds to deter me from achieving one of my goals this morning, I wouldn’t experience that winning feeling I had from my ride. The lesson for today is to not let perceived obstacles keep you from reaching your goals. Forget the Clouds. Ride through, around or over them! Be determine to come out on the winning side!

One of my favorite pastimes and form of exercises is riding my bicycle. Since learning to ride a bike as a child, I’ve enjoyed the sport immensely. I bought an aluminum, 21-speed, men’s mountain bike for my birthday, some years ago. I like men’s bike because that is what I first learn to ride. I chose the aluminum bike due to the lightweight…I can pick it up with one hand. It also has front shocks to absorb going over rough roads (not much of that in the city area…but you never know).

There were many mornings that I would jump on the bike and ride. It gave me a feeling of freedom and exhilaration. When I moved to South Florida, I rode it less and less due to my fear of the traffic. Let’s face it, if you live in South Florida, you know people drive crazy around here. One would often hear of a biker being hit by an automobile. The bike sat for a few years not begin touched…parked on the balcony.

Recently, I made up my mind that I’m going to get on the bike and face my fear. I bought a helmet to give me a sense of security. Putting the bike on the elevator, excitement bundled with nerves ran around my gut. I pushed the door open to the parking lot, got on the bike and road off into the street. Keeping to the more residential part of the city, I road along feeling the freedom I love returning. The breeze felt great on my face as my legs kept on pedaling around the neighborhood. The more I kept on pedaling, the more the fears subsided. The chains of my fear broke, replaced by a feeling of accomplishment and self-confidence.

Then I thought about all the other fears that I allowed to keep me from accomplishing more goals. Goals that align with my achieving my life’s purpose. Now, I’m committing to facing these fears and riding them out of my mind. I’m going to keep on pedaling towards those goal lines. Won’t you come riding with me…Keep Pedaling those fears away, my friends!!!

Looking back on Joan Rivers’ life, my views of her are: a woman that paved the way for other female comics in her field, provided laughter to millions of people and was constantly re-inventing herself. Most of all I recall that she spoke exactly what was on her mind…sometimes, the truth isn’t so easy to swallow. Whether you agree or disagree with her she had MOJO, Brass, and was a BadA$$!

Well, my friend, Dawnna St. Louis, may not be a comedian like Joan Rivers, but she is funny as heck and she doesn’t sugarcoat the truth. I love that Dawnna is willing to share her knowledge with others. She keeps it real for her clients. In one of her latest article “SALES MOJO: WHAT FOOTBALL CAN TEACH YOU ABOUT INCREASING SALES,” Dawnna shares how she guided her client, Jay, through his sales struggle using Football analogies.

Many people have extended their hands to help me throughout my career and my life. This has allowed me to extend my hand to others in the same manner. Helping others is not only taking your Diamond Living to a higher level…it will bless you.

When you reach out to someone else and provide assistance to them, you are also aligning yourself to receive many blessings. You may encounter some who don’t appreciate the helping hand you extend to them. Don’t let that stop your giving. Keep giving. In this way, your hand will already be open to receive life’s gifts.
